Camacho-Vester fight canceled due to injury

COPENHAGEN (AP) A fight between former champion Hector Camacho and Allan Vester has been canceled because the Dane injured his back in training.

The fight had been scheduled for March 26 in Kjellerup, Denmark. It would have been the 47-year-old Camacho's first bout in Europe.

The 33-year-old Vester says he was injured during training in Sweden and would be out for at least one month. He says he hopes the fight will be rescheduled later this year.

Klitschko says he's in top shape for Chambers

DUESSELDORF, Germany (AP) IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko says he is in the best shape of his life going into his defense against American challenger Eddie Chambers.

The 33-year-old Ukrainian hasn't fought in nearly 10 months but says he won't be rusty when he fights his former sparring partner Saturday in Duesseldorf's Espirit Arena. (MORE)

Mayweather, Mosley embrace Olympic-style drug test

NEW YORK (AP) Floyd Mayweather Jr. and welterweight champion Shane Mosley will undergo Olympic-style drug testing for their May 1 fight in Las Vegas, which they hope will set a new standard for boxing.

Representatives of the two fighters joined Travis Tygart of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency on a conference call Thursday to discuss the program, which is more extensive than the testing that currently falls under the jurisdiction of state athletic commissions. (MORE)

Green-Ward bout set for April 24 postponed

NEW YORK (AP) Allan Green has waited his entire career for a world title shot, and he's not pleased that he'll have to keep waiting.

Green was supposed to challenge WBA champion Andre Ward on April 24 in the second round of bouts in the Super Six World Boxing Classic, but Ward cited a right knee injury Wednesday when organizers of the tournament announced the fight was being postponed. (MORE)

NEW YORK (AP) Allan Green's fight against WBA champion Andre Ward in the Super Six World Boxing Classic has been postponed.

Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) had surgery on his right knee last year, and it gave out during training camp, forcing the former Olympic gold medalist to postpone the bout on Wednesday. (MORE)

Poor ticket sales knock out Pacquiao's concert

HONOLULU (AP) A promoter says poor ticket sales have forced the cancellation of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao's upcoming concert Sunday in Waikiki.

Ryan Chang of Island Fire Productions said Tuesday he stood to lose about $50,000 on the concert, even with late sales and walk-ups. (MORE)

Title doubleheader set for March 26 postponed

NEW YORK (AP) A boxing title doubleheader scheduled for March 26 in Las Vegas has been postponed after contractual differences arose between promoter Don King and ESPN.

Steve Cunningham was supposed to fight Matt Godfrey for the vacant IBF cruiserweight title at the Treasure Island Casino, with Cory Spinks defending his IBF junior middleweight belt against Cornelius Bundrage in the co-main event. (MORE)

NEW YORK (AP) The first live fight Paulie Malignaggi attended was Naseem Hamed against Kevin Kelley at Madison Square Garden in 1997. He was rooting for Kelley, a fellow New Yorker, but came away a fan of the victorious Brit.

NEW YORK (AP) Former world heavyweight champ Mike Tyson will take flight on Animal Planet with a new sport - pigeon racing.
